Sad news: Berlin is covered with monuments representing millions and millions of Jewish and other people that died during WWII - including this...

large square filled with large stone blocks of all different sizes, one after another. As you enter, you begin to get lost in a maze of gigantic dark, cold, towering blocks. The deeper you go, the more you truly feel fear. According to a true Berliner, this feeling of loss represents the fear and uncertainty the Jewish people felt during the Nazi control - not knowing who would be found next and sent to a horrific concentration camp.

Good News: Berlin is now ALSO filled with beautiful and wonderful and magical Christmas Markets! I visited 3 different gigantic ones, but there are many more! Most other cities only have one, if that. (Lyon has a tiny one). These markets are filled with food (sausage, chestnuts - chestnut machine shown, cabbage, desserts, potatoes in all different forms, vin chaud, beer...) and gifts/treasures galore! There are also Ferris Wheels, ice skating rinks, and always a carousel!
